Many of our Lions have writing that is worth reading. We'll use this page to share some of the exemplary writing of our Lions, both as a way to recognize the talents of the students in our classes, as well as to give others an idea of the expectations and possibilities of sixth grade writers.
Sometimes we write for our own selves, and sometimes we write for others. And some of us just aren't sure what to write. If you are one of the latter, perhaps these examples will help you.
Most recently we have been working on argumentative writing. In the past, students were asked to write persuasive essays. It was enough for students to write passionate essays from their own perspectives and life experiences. But with the advent of common core, more is required. Now students are expected to write essays based not just on their own thoughts and experiences, but also to support their claims with expert evidence from their own reading and research.
